Unser Profil

RWTH Aachen University is one of the top technical university in Germany. Institute for Combustion Technology (ITV) has profound expertise in the development of advanced physical-chemistry models to describe combustion processes and emission formation, simulations of combustion phenomena spanning all levels of complexity, and experimental investigation of combustion physics and chemistry under various conditions. Prof. Heinz Pitsch is a world-renowned researcher on combustion field with expertise in many of combustion field including turbulence, soot, kinetics, and carbon-free fuels.

Biomass combustion under oxy-fuel environment could be a future generation combustion technology with ultra-low CO2 emission in power generation sector. Fundamental experimental investigations on biomass solid phase combustion, and biomass tar gas phase combustion may help to understand the chemistry to support kinetic model development and the advanced combustor design within scope of the SFB/TRR 129 “Oxyflame” project.
