The Institute for Molecular Pathogenesis at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is seeking a/an PhD position (f/m/d)
Main tasks
The newly founded Institute of Molecular Pathogenicity conducts research in the field of Molecular Infection Biology. We aim to understand how defense proteins of the innate immune system detect and combat bacterial pathogens, and how these pathogens evade immune responses. To fundamentally understand these host–pathogen interactions, we use an interdisciplinary approach combining molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, immunology, biophysics, and biochemistry. The PhD candidate will work on a DFG-funded project that studies how a host defense factor breaks down the protective outer membrane barrier for antimicrobial recognition and killing. The lab language is English.
