Unser Profil
ANTS searches and analyses in research and teaching for solutions and methods to make anthropogenic material flows recyclable. Thus, we aim to develop a raw material management at the product and material level as well as to demonstrate and to implement it by means of practical examples. With its previous expertise, the department is one of the leading research institutions in Europe in the field of mechanical and sensor-based processing technology. The ANTS combines the modelling and evaluation of processing and recycling processes with a view to entire product systems and life cycles in the sense of a circular economy and complements this expertise by technical implementation and demonstration.
Ihr Profil
As part of the Circular E-Cars project, ANTS will investigate the entire value chain of end-of-life vehicles together with project partners. The goal of the project is to develop novel recycling concepts to enhance the recovery of valuable materials. The role of ANTS in the Circular E-Cars project is to develop more efficient process chains and assessment methods to optimize end-of-life pathways for automotive components.
We are looking for ambitious and motivated students who wish to join our area of Modeling and Assessment. As a goal-oriented research institute, we welcome students who share ANTS' mission to design more efficient and sustainable industrial systems and to ensure that human activities remain within planetary boundaries. We expect students to have strong technical skills as well as an awareness of all dimensions of sustainability – ecological, economic, and social.
You should bring the following:
- Bachelor`s degree + immatriculation in a consecutive course
- Intrinsic motivation to contribute to ANTS' mission.
- Interest in and/or previous experience with tools of industrial ecology, such as MFA and LCA.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Willingness to continuously learn and develop in the field of industrial ecology and beyond.
- Team spirit and a positive attitude.
- Independent and proactive working style.
- Good English skills (German skills are an advantage).
- Previous experience with machine learning and simulations is a plus.
Ihre Aufgaben
- Support the development of novel assessment methods for end-of-life processes in the automotive industry.
- Engage with modern tools of industrial ecology, such as material flow analysis (MFA), life cycle assessment (LCA), circular economy assessments, process simulations, and multi-criteria decision analysis.
- Research and apply these tools to selected systems in the end-of-life value chains.
- Collect and analyze recycled samples.
- Assist project leaders with administrative tasks to help achieve the goals of both the project and the institute as a whole
