The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term until 31 December 2028.
Continued employment for a total of at least 3 years as part of the doctoral program is planned.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a part-time position (75 % of the standard weekly hours for full-time employees).
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.

Unser Profil

The Chair for Algebra and Number Theory at RWTH Aachen University pursues research and teaching of algebraic structures, their representations as well as computational and algorithmic aspects and their applications, e.g., within mathematics, the sciences and engineering.

Ihr Profil

Requirement for hiring is a university degree (Master's or equivalent) in mathematics or a closely related subject.

Ideally the candidate has a solid background in one of the areas of algorithmic algebra, differential equations, machine learning as well as experience in using computer algebra systems and programming skills.

Candidates distinguish themselves with initiative and independence and strong work ethics (e.g. teamwork, structured approach to tasks), and have very good communication skills.

Ihre Aufgaben

Mathematical research within the project "Partial Differential Equation Discovery with Differential Consequences".

Development of software packages supporting the research project.

Publication of research results and presentation at conferences.

Instructing student assistants (if applicable).

This research project is a cooperation of the Chair for Algebra and Number Theory at RWTH Aachen University and the Faculty of Computer Science and Automation at Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe, Lemgo.

The employment as well as the PhD supervision of the successful candidate will be shared by RWTH Aachen University and Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe. It is expected that the successful candidate will engage in certain periods of time at either site, the exact periods of time being subject to the needs of the research project.
