The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term up to September 30, 2028.
As part of a doctoral program, an extension to a total of at least 3 years is planned.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a full-time position.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.
Unser Profil
The Engineering Hydrology Department develops open-source virtual reality software for teaching (MyScore and Anywhere Academy). We continue to refine existing VR scenarios and are constantly designing new approaches for use in teaching. The software is based on the use of generic and personalized avatars, and more recently on the integration of avatars with AI language models.
For our collaborative project RWTH:2U as well as Freiraum projects (funded by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education - StIL), we are seeking to expand our VR development team.
Ihr Profil
- Practical experience with development in game engines, particularly Unity 3D
- Experience in object-oriented programming, ideally C#
- Experience working on XR projects
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- A completed university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in computer science or an engineering discipline
- Good verbal and written communication skills in German and English
- A high degree of initiative; a sense of responsibility and team spirit
Optional skills:
- Experience with Blender
- Experience with multiplayer applications
- Experience in game design / UX

- Contribute to the creation, testing, and implementation of open-source virtual reality teaching and learning scenarios based on our Anywhere Academy software
