The Cologne Institute for Information Systems (CIIS) is engaged in highly interdisciplinary research, drawing from data analytics, decision science, computer science, economics, behavioral science, and machine learning to advance sustainable smart energy and mobility markets (https://ciis.uni-koeln.de/en/).
YOUR TASKS
- Conducting research in energy systems and markets, with a focus on electricity markets, trading algorithms, and blockchain-based solutions
- Designing and implementing reinforcement learning models for trading strategies
- Collaborating in an interdisciplinary team and engaging in international research networks, particularly within the EU-Horizon project, INTELLIGENT (intelligent-project.eu)
YOUR PROFILE
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in energy engineering, computer science, economics, physics or a related field
- A strong background in energy systems and electricity markets
- Proven programming skills, particularly in Python
- Knowledge of machine learning and reinforcement learning methods
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a diverse, international team
- Prior experience in large projects is a plus

The position is available immediately on a part-time basis (29,87 hours per week). The position is to be filled for a fixed term until 30 November 2027. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and has the appropriate personal qualifications, the salary will be based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
