Ihre Aufgaben

Building on the successes of the FireFly project, the follow-up project FireFly2 is investigating the navigation of drones and aero taxis in urban areas. While the previous project focused on localization using GNSS and LTE signals, the focus in FireFly2 is on the combination of GNSS and innovative pseudolites. Pseudolites mimic the signals of navigation satellites and can be used to support navigation systems, for example, in urban environments with limited satellite visibility. This enables highly accurate positioning in previously unsolved inner-city scenarios. The developments are therefore an important step towards autonomous mobility in a wide range of applications.

As part of the position, you will research novel approaches to application-oriented sensor fusion and localization together with interdisciplinary project partners from research and industry. Your tasks include:

  • Close exchange with project partners acquiring suitable data sets of pseudolite signals
  • Preprocessing raw data
  • Integration of pseudolite signal carrier phase with ambiguity solution into the determination of a navigation solution
  • Implementation of the algorithms in prototype software
  • Experimental validation on test vehicles
