The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 14 TV-L.

Our research focuses on organic bioelectronics, neuromorphics and neurotechnology develops next-generation bioelectronic devices for neural interfacing, biosensing, and optoelectronic applications. We combine advanced materials synthesis with state-of-the-art micro- and nanofabrication to create functional devices on both rigid and flexible substrates.
We are seeking an outstanding senior researcher to lead this group, contribute to our scientific agenda, and help shape the future of neuroelectronics research at RWTH Aachen.
Ihr Profil
Required Qualifications
• Doctoral degree (PhD) in Chemistry
• Proven expertise in the synthesis and characterization of organic semiconductors, conjugated polymers, or small-molecule organic electronic materials.
• Proven experience in flexible electronics platforms design and engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in the integration of organic semiconductor in microchip-based technology for bioelectronic, optoelectronic, or biochemical sensing applications.
• Hands-on experience with additive manufacturing and printing techniques, in particular two-photon polymerization (2PP)
• Proficiency in cleanroom-based microfabrication, including photolithography, metal thin-film deposition (PVD/evaporation/sputtering), and ITO deposition
• Previous experience with grant writing
• Previous experience in the supervision of doctoral and master's students
• Previous university-level teaching experience in organic electronics, bioelectronics, or neurotechnology
• Previous experience on scientific event organization and dissemination of results (i.e, participation in international conferences with poster, invited talks, etc)
• Excellent written and spoken English.
Desirable Qualifications
• Experience with electrochemical characterization methods (CV, EIS, OECT characterization)
• Established network in the organic bioelectronics or neurotechnology community
• Postdoctoral research experience at an internationally recognized institution
You hold the “Leadership Certificate” (“Zertifikat Führen”) from the Center for Professional Leadership (CPL) at RWTH Aachen University, or are willing to obtain the certificate after commencing employment.
You are willing to participate in the “Teaching at RWTH” program offered by Excellent Academic Teaching at the Center for Teaching and Learning Services (CLS).
Ihre Aufgaben
As Group Leader, you will:
• Lead and independently develop a research program in the field of materials developments for organic bioelectronics, optoelectronic sensors, and biochemical sensing
• Oversee the synthesis and physicochemical characterization of organic semiconducting materials and their integration into rigid and flexible substrates for bioelectronic applications
• Drive research and development in additive manufacturing and printed electronics, including two-photon polymerization (2PP) and related techniques
• Supervise and mentor doctoral researchers, master's students, and student assistants
• Independently acquire third-party funding through grant applications (DFG, BMBF, EU Horizon, etc.)
• Represent the group at national and international conferences and in collaborative research networks
• Provide teaching support of 8 SWS (semester hours per week) in the areas of organic bioelectronics and neurotechnologies
• Contribute to the administrative and organizational tasks of the institute
