Unser Profil
In the context of the energy transition, a fundamental transformation of energy systems is necessary to ensure the security, environmental compatibility and independence of the energy supply. The power grid plays a key role in this transformation by replacing fossil power plants and integrating renewable based generation as well as new types of consumers, from industrial processes to heat pumps and electromobility.
The most important prerequisites for safe and efficient operation of modern power systems are innovative technologies, but above all the integration of modern ICT into the grid infrastructure to coordinate millions of decentralized generation plants and consumers. Meeting this challenge requires new skilling concepts and approaches that do not come from a traditional research and education environment.
At the Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems (ACS), we already embrace a multidisciplinary research approach capable of capturing and leveraging the latest advances in ICT to address the most advanced problems in grid dynamics and automation.
Against this background, the goal is to create a blueprint strategy for the power and energy sector to anticipate and meet future skills requirements for a highly qualified workforce that can drive sustainable growth and the digitalization of energy. The mission is to design and deliver open training materials and new teaching curricula, primarily for higher education, at RWTH Aachen University and beyond.
Join us and create a climate-friendly and resilient future energy system together with many national and international partners from industry and academia!
