The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled by 10/1/2026 and offered for a fixed term of up to six years, depending on individual circumstances.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a full-time position with the possibility of a part-time contract upon request.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.
Unser Profil
- The Chair in Gender and Diversity in Engineering (GDE) is an interdisciplinary bridging professorship (with a secondary seat in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities) which examines issues arising in the fields of engineering and the natural sciences from a social science perspective, using social science research methods.
- The GDI is home to an interdisciplinary team of researchers working under the leadership of a political scientist. As a bridging professorship is based in Civil Engineering (with a secondary seat in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities), the aim of our research is to contribute to the development of environmentally and socially responsible, sustainable and gender-equitable technical and organisational designs. In doing so, we operate at the interface between science and politics, reflection and intervention.
- The GDE offers a wide variety of tasks and opportunities to work within a dedicated, interdisciplinary environment.
Ihr Profil
The role requires a PhD in the social sciences, humanities, psychology, economics or engineering.
You must also meet the following criteria:
- In-depth knowledge of gender studies (in general), gender in STEM, or feminist science and technology studies
- In-depth knowledge of the application of social science research methods (qualitative and quantitative)
- Experience of, or a willingness to work on, interdisciplinary STEM research projects with engineering faculites
- Skills in organisational management, project management, diversity management and science management
- Knowledge or (professional) experience in science and organisational research
- Proactive, the ability to work in a team and a quick grasp of new concepts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of and experience in using standard PC software (e.g. MS Office)
- Planning and organisational skills, initiative, creativity and flexibility in tackling complex tasks
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration
- Willingness to carry out independent scientific research
- Very good command of spoken and written English
Ihre Aufgaben
- Scientifically grounded further development and implementation of a diversity and change management strategy in DFG projects in the fields of engineering and natural sciences
- Presentation of project results in academic texts and reports
- Conducting theoretical and social science studies
- Presenting findings at national and international conferences
- Regular participation in project-related meetings and events
- Contributing to the development of the academic portfolio of the GDE
