We are looking for a Research Software Developer (m/w/d)
Salary group 10 to 12 TV-L
As soon as possible at the Cologne location, in the Semantic Technologies team, for a limited period of one year full-time, with the option to be extended. Part-time work could be negotiated. The pay grade depends on the corresponding collective agreement and personal requirements.
ZB MED - Information Centre for Life Sciences is the national infrastructure and research centre for life science data and information. Our services support research for people and the environment: from medicine to biodiversity to environmental protection.
Information Hub for Life Sciences
We provide the infrastructures for literature and information supply, data management and the handling of large amounts of data.
Data Sciences for Life Sciences
We conduct applied and transdisciplinary research. We enable data analysis and generate data potential. As a partner to research, we create new knowledge that is oriented to the needs of the community.
Your future are of responsability:
- Design and develop software solutions aligned to projects in the SemTec team, including collection, transformation, and harmonization of research software metadata (and related artifacts, e.g., scholarly publications about the software)
- Define and implement a strategy to store and archive semantic metadata
- Design and develop REST-APIs and web-based applications to expose research software metadata (and related artifacts) to the public
- Improve metadata schemas to represent research software and related artifacts
- Contribute to the creation of data corpora to train Machine/Deep Learning approaches
- Apply Machine/Deep Learning approaches to improve research software and related artifacts metadata coverage and quality
- Active participation in project, team and institutional meetings
- Presentation of work in conferences and workshops
Your professional qualifications and personal skills:
- Bachelor or master degree in software engineering, informatics, computer science, or similar
- At least three years of professional
- Fluent in English spoken and written
- Enjoy bringing ideas to the table and easily adapt to evolving requirements
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable skills:
- Good knowledge of Python including libraries for REST services
- Knowledge of Vue and databases is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of semantic metadata schemas and knowledge graphs is an advantage
- Knowledge of German is an advantage
- Some experience with Machine/Deep Learning development would be an advantage
