The Department of Sociology at the Institute of Sociology and Gender Studies at the German Sport University Cologne announces the availability of a position starting 01.10.2025
Senior Lecturer (Postdoc)
with standard weekly hours of 19 hrs and 55 minutes (50%) as a temporary replacement employement until 30.09.2028.
Your tasks
- Preparation and implementation of research projects and third mission activities
- Preparation and publishing of scientific publications
- Preparation of research proposals and acquisition of third-party funding
- Implementation, preparation and follow-up of teaching and examination activities
- Supervision of theses and examination (Bachelor and Master level)
- Proactive engagement in the department
- Participation in the academic self-administration of the department
Neccessary
- A University degree (Diploma or Master) in sociology, cultural studies, sports science or a thematically related discipline as well as a completed university doctorate in a research area appropriate to the department
- A strong interest in sociology of sport topics
- Experience in the publication of scientific studies in peer-reviewed journals
- Very good knowledge of empirical social science research methods and corresponding analysis software
- Good command of German and very good command of English (writing and speaking)

- Experience in higher education teaching
- Experience in the acquisition of competitive third-party funding
- International experience
- Integrity, ability to work in a team and resilience
- Willingness to learn, commitment, and self-motivated working style
Dependent on qualification, the salary will be up to 13 TV-L German wage classification. For more information on German wage classification see here.
The position has a teaching load of 4,5 hrs contact time/week during the term (according to the German system: 4,5 SWS/F 1, NRW Lehrverpflichtungsordnung).
