The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 2 years.
An extension for at least one year is planned.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a part-time position (75 % of the standard weekly hours for full-time employees).
There is an option to increase to a full-time position. A full-time position is available for postdocs.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.


Unser Profil

We are currently expanding our team of research scientists in the field of data analytics for sustainable supply chains. The research interests of the Chair of Operations Management in this field include, for example, designing supply chains for the circular economy, sustainability assessments, and renewable energy network optimisation. In our team you can expect exciting activities in the areas of research and teaching.


We are seeking talented and motivated Research Scientists (Doctoral Candidates/ PostDoc) with expertise in sustainability analytics and/or data science. As an ideal candidate, you have a strong background in methods such as Network & Supply Chain Optimization, Data-driven Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics, Business Intelligence and/or Sustainability Assessment. You are passionate about driving positive impact in sustainability research through research and innovation, and enthusiastic about collaboration with other disciplines. The position shall be filled at the earliest opportunity.


Ihr Profil

  • You have successfully completed your university degree (master's degree or equivalent) or PhD in Operations Research, Management Science, Data Science, Economics, Environmental Engineering, Informatics, Mathematics or a related quantitative field.
  • You possess profound knowledge in data-driven, analytical, and conceptual methods and can integrate interdisciplinary knowledge from the fields of economics, environmental science, and engineering in application-oriented research.
  • You have or will develop proficiency in programming, data analysis and sustainability tools, such as Python, R, MATLAB or similar.
  • You work in a structured and reliable manner, demonstrating a high level of motivation, initiative, and commitment, and can work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in English and strong communication skills complete your profile.

Ihre Aufgaben

  • Data-driven research to support decision-making regarding sustainable supply chains by applying and enhancing data analysis, data science (e.g. machine learning-based) and operations research methods, as well as other quantitative assessment techniques
  • Presentation of results at international conferences
  • Active collaboration with interdisciplinary academic and industrial partners
  • Preparation of scientific publications for international, peer-reviewed journals
  • Supervision of student theses and support in teaching (Doctoral Candidates)
  • Teaching, supervision and management responsibilities within a research group and third-party funded research projects (PostDocs)

Teilzeit-Informationen

There is an option to increase to a full-time position. A full-time position is available for postdocs.
