The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 4 years.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a full-time position with the possibility of a part-time contract upon request.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.

Ihr Profil

Requirement is a University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in CES, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, or a similar subject with a superior academic record. Strong theoretical background as well as ability to apply it in a technical field are expected. You are open to collaborative software development in a diverse international team. You are capable of independent goal-oriented work style, creativity, and flexibility.
Practical programming experience in a high-level programming langauge (Fortran, C, or C++) as well as with parallelization (MPI or OpenMP) are of advantage. Familiarity with UNIX would be ideal. We expect you to contribute to general tasks at the institute, such as advising master or project theses. Language skills in German are beneficial but not required.

Ihre Aufgaben

The position will be anchored in one of the three research areas at CATS:

• blood flow simulaiton in support of development of novel medical devices and therapies
• manufacturing technology, including melt-based processes and forming with the goal of sustainable production
• fluid-structure interaction with applications in the materials science and energy engineering

The candidate will support the teaching of mandatory courses CES Mechanics I and II, and the overall organization of the CES study program.
