The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term until 31.12.2024.
Further employment is planned.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 5-10 Std./Woche hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 15.20 euros per hour.

Unser Profil

The Chair of Individualized Production develops and investigates automated processes along the whole value chain in construction. A focus is the use of robots for individualized building production. In order to create an environment that allows the efficient production of lot size one, new and user friendly methods for man machine interaction are necessary. Combining the flexibility of robotics with common methods for design-oriented process planning and robot programming. The Chair of IP employs researchers from different fields of robotics and building production to streamline the necessary digital workflow from the initial design to the production process and construction site of the future via intuitive, easy-to-use interfaces.

One of our current research projects is CLOUD56. Here we are investigating the monitoring and optimization of automated steel assembly. This involves connecting various sensors and devices to a cloud server via a 5G network, with data stored and retrieved using a graph database architecture.

We are looking for a student assistant who will assist in the development and maintenance of a graph database for sensor monitoring and steel production data. We offer the opportunity to work with new industrial robots for research and teaching purposes. As an application we expect a cover letter and a CV as one single pdf.

Ihr Profil

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferred in Computer Science or with focus on Computer science in engineering and enrollment in a consecutive programm
  • Motivated to work independently and on one’s own responsibility
  • Very good writing and communication skills in English and/ or German
  • The practiced use of programming languages (e.g. Python or C#)
  • Experience with linked data, automation and CAD (Rhino) is advantageous

  • Support of IP-researchers in an ongoing research project
  • Development and Implementation of a graph database for process data
  • Support in the development of automated steel assembly processes
  • Documentation of the developed solutions
  • Support in the writing and review of scientific articles
  • Support for teaching in the field of robotics
