The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 1 year.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 10 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 15,20 € per hour.

Invent the future of industrial 3D printing with us!
The team at the Chair of DAP (Digital Additive Production) at RWTH Aachen University, together with industrial and scientific partners, researches the fundamental relationships of digital & additive manufacturing and transfers the findings into industrial applications. We work on topics ranging from component design, simulation and the process through to production and the application properties of additively manufactured components. Our development work also focuses on accompanying processes such as design, quality management and mapping the entire digital process chain. Individual consulting and training services round off our service portfolio. As part of industrial projects, the future of digital & additive manufacturing is developed and shaped in close cooperation with partners from the automotive, aerospace, turbomachinery, life sciences, machinery, tool and mold making industries. In addition, the DAP offers a wide range of professional and personal development opportunities in a highly motivated team.

Ihr Profil

  • Bachelor's degree and immatriculation in a consecutive course in mechanical engineering, simulation sciences, mathematics or similar field
  • Experience in fluid simulation, particle simulation, coding
  • Basic knowledge of C++, simulation
  • is characterized by a committed, motivated, independent and structured way of working
  • can work 10 hours per week

You are highly motivated to contribute your own ideas and play a key role in shaping the future of additive manufacturing at the DAP. Very good written and spoken English and German skills are essential.

Ihre Aufgaben

Main tasks of your supporting work will be:

  • Understanding and identifying simulation techniques relevant to fluid and particle simulation
  • Development of simulation methodology for powder mixing using software tools (like Ansys, LIGGGHTS)
  • Development of simulation methodology for particle mixing for alloy development in additive manufacturing
  • Identifying opportunities in the field of additive manufacturing for application of CFD, DED simulation
