The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled by 4/1/2025 and offered for a fixed term until 31.12.2028.
It is intended to extend the initial contract period by at least one year
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a full-time position.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.


Unser Profil

Semiconductor devices are the basis for all electronic applications: from smartphones and photovoltaics over high speed data transmission up to power electronics for electromobility. A fundamental physical understanding of theses devices on a microscopic level is therefore desirable, on the hand to improve current technologies and, on the other hand, to explore the potential of possible future devices.


At the Institute of Electromagnetic Theory, we investigate physical models for semiconductor devices, develop suitable numerical methods for these models and perform simulations with self-developed programs on our computer cluster. We collaborate internationally with other institutes and with companies which provide devices and measurement data.


The course offerings of our institute encompass lectures on electromagnetic theory for bachelor students and specialized lectures on simulation of semiconductor devices for master students.

Ihr Profil

  • University degree with excellent grades (master or equivalent) in electrical engineering, physics or comparable field
  • Enthusiasm for simulation of electronic devices, application of numerical mathematics and programming of complex software systems, as well as the intention to achieve a doctoral degree in this field
  • High degree of autonomy, commitment and initiative
  • Good analytical and conceptual skills
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English

Ihre Aufgaben

  • Development of a DD model for amorphous silicon nanowire and 2D material MOSFETs
  • Evaluation and implemention of transport models
  • Inverse modeling
  • Generation of data for compact modeling.
  • Joint development of novel devices with other groups of the TRR Active-3D that fabricate the devices
  • Modeling and interpretation of the measurements in collaboration with the experimental groups oft he TRR Active-3D
  • Preparation of publications and participation in conferences.
