Unser Profil

The aim of the Chair of Healthy Living Spaces is to develop innovative approaches to the design of living spaces and buildings, to analyze sources of disturbance and to develop and establish measures to support health promotion through the built environment. The working group sees itself as an inter- and transdisciplinary link between medical research and relevant research activities in the fields of architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, natural and social sciences, psychology and information technology.

The interdisciplinary research training group (RTG) “Multi-domain and context-dependent spatial approaches to acoustic well-being (MOSAIC)”, funded by the HEAD Genuit Foundation, aims to improve our understanding of “acoustic well-being”. The project investigates how acoustic comfort changes in different indoor and outdoor spaces and during different activities, such as learning, working or relaxing. It also aims to contribute to the relatively new field of soundscape research, which describes other environmental factors and their influence on our auditory perception.

The RTG comprises a total of 8 doctoral positions and one postdoctoral position. With this call for applications, we are looking for a committed postdoctoral researcher for this innovative and interdisciplinary project, who will act as an interface between the supervising chairs and the doctoral students and at the same time advance their own research work.

Ihr Profil

You have an excellent university degree (Master's or equivalent) with a focus on architecture, psychology, architectural psychology or similar disciplines. You have relevant research experience as well as an excellent and completed doctorate, which has dealt with topics in the research field of soundscape. Good oral communication skills in English are mandatory.

Other desirable skills and competencies include:

  • Experience in designing, conducting and statistically analyzing scientific studies with human subjects
  • Knowledge of the interaction between people and buildings with regard to the influence of acoustic and thermal, but also visual and other parameters of the building, such as control options on physiological, psychological and/or behavioral reactions and adaptation processes
  • Outstanding research interest in interdisciplinary and internationally visible research
  • Independent and meticulous way of working, high sense of responsibility, and ability to integrate into a team
  • Experience and skills in project management

Ihre Aufgaben

The colleague interested in interdisciplinary and international work will be responsible for the coordination of the RTG and the planning and can expect to focus on planning and implementing a research projects on their own at the interface between architecture, psychology and medicine.
The tasks include
- Coordination of the GRK including the organization of internal and external events and dissemination work
- Development of survey instruments and research designs on questions of acoustic well-being with a focus on multi-modal influencing variables such as thermal aspects, sense of control and adaptation processes
- Implementation and evaluation of the studies including their dissemination
