The Institute of East Asian Studies at the University of Cologne is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research on Chinese law and legal culture, with a particular focus on judicial and legal reform.


 


YOUR TASKS

  • Analysis of Chinese court decisions in terms of references to socialist core values
  • Review of literature and development of a theoretical framework
  • Organization of project workshops and conferences
  • Development of a database of relevant court decisions
  • Preparation of the publication of research results

 


YOUR PROFILE

  • Outstanding Master‘s degree in Chinese studies or Chinese law (or equivalent)
  • Excellent knowledge of the Chinese legal system and Chinese courts
  • Very good language skills in English and Chinese, including the relevant legal terminology
  • Scientific curiosity and academic orientation
  • Strong interest in collaborative and interdisciplinary research

The position is available from 01.04.2025 on a part-time basis (25,89 hours per week).The position is to be filled for a fixed term until 31.03.2028. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary will be based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
