The offered position is part of the newly established DFG Research Unit MadFungi (https://portal.uni-koeln.de/en/universitaet/aktuell/press-releases/single-news/new-dfg-research-unit-investigates-how-fungi-adapt-to-host-plants), which will investigates the mechanisms of niche adaptation of plant-colonizing fungi. The successful applicant will join the project “Molecular mechanisms of niche competition by biotrophic smut fungi“ at the Doehlemann lab. The project aims to elucidate the mechanistic basis of Ustilago-induced suppression of secondary pathogen infection as a mechanism of fungal niche competition in barley.

The position is available from 1 December 2024 on a part-time basis (25,89 hours per week). The position is to be filled for a fixed term of up to 3 years. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary is based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
